Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will not make the trip to Toronto for Wednesday night’s game due to a lower-body injury.

Coach Dominique Ducharme said Tuesday that Price is day-to-day with a nagging injury. He said Price was not hurt while making 21 saves during Monday night’s 3-2 overtime win against Edmonton.

“It’s something he’s been carrying for a little bit of time,” Ducharme said. “We want to make sure he can take care of it and come back 100 percent.”

The team said Price will remain in Montreal for treatments. Jake Allen is expected to start in goal against the Maple Leafs.

The Canadiens also recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau from the AHL’s Laval Rocket to the taxi squad.
