MLB Spring Training Scores: Giancarlo Stanton leads Yankees past Phillies

Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and two RBIs, Domingo German struck out six in four innings and the New York Yankees rallied to top the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 at Tampa, Fla., on Monday.

Phillies starter Chase Anderson kept his scoreless spring training alive with three shutout innings and Rhys Hopkins homered in the sixth inning.

With the score tied at 1 in the seventh, Stanton delivered a two-run single off Hector Rondon, the Phillies reliever whose Grapefruit League ERA rose to 11.57.

Rays 3, Red Sox 2

Brandon Lowe had a first-inning RBI single and Kevin Kiermaier doubled twice, raising his average to .500 during spring training, as Tampa beat Boston at Port Charlotte, Fla. Michael Chavis hit his fourth home run of spring training for the Red Sox.

Marlins 6, Astros 5

Jazz Chisholm went 2-for-2 with a stolen base, Sandy Leon had two hits and two RBIs and Florida withstood a four-run ninth inning to slip past Houston at West Palm Beach, Fla. Starter Jose Urquidy worked 3 2/3 innings for the Astros, allowing two earned runs.

Braves 5, Twins 1

Ronald Acuna Jr. homered and scored twice, Bryse Wilson threw four shutout innings and Atlanta stopped Minnesota at North Port, Fla. Luis Arraez had two hits for the Twins.

Orioles 12, Pirates 3

Jahmai Jones hit a three-run homer, Freddy Galvis and Austin Hays added solo shots and Baltimore pounded Pittsburgh at Sarasota, Fla. Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes homered off starter Matt Harvey.

Blue Jays 4, Tigers 0

Jonathan Davis hit a first-inning home run off Matthew Boyd and Hyun-Jin Ryu delivered four shutout innings, striking out four as Toronto blanked Detroit at Lakeland, Fla. Nomar Mazara had two of the Tigers’ four hits.

Cardinals 4, Nationals 2

Nolan Arenado and Tyler O’Neill each had two hits and Dylan Carlson hit a home run as St. Louis rallied to stop Washington at Jupiter, Fla. Max Scherzer went four shutout innings with seven strikeouts and Ryan Zimmerman hit his third spring-training homer for the Nationals.

Dodgers 12, Rockies 5

Corey Seager and Justin Turner each went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Dodgers over the Rockies in Scottsdale, Ariz. Connor Joe hit a two-run homer for the Rockies.

White Sox 4, Cubs 4 (10)

Eloy Jimenez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Jose Abreu went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored for the White Sox in their tie in Glendale, Ariz. David Bote went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Cubs.

Indians 7, A’s 3

Roberto Perez’s grand slam in the sixth inning lifted Cleveland to a win over Oakland in Goodyear, Ariz. Frank Schwindel and Carlos Perez each had two hits for Oakland.

Royals 6, Giants 1

Whit Merrifield, Hunter Dozier and Salvador Perez each had two hits to lead Kansas City to a win over San Francisco in Surprise, Ariz. The Giants had just four hits and struck out nine times.

Diamondbacks 6, Mariners 2

Christian Walker went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs and Josh VanMeter added two hits to power Arizona over Seattle in Peoria, Ariz. J.P. Crawford went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Mariners.

Reds 7, Angels 3

Mark Payton went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Jesse Winker went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead Cincinnati over Anaheim in Tempe. The Angels hit three solo home runs — two by Shohei Ohtani and one by Jo Adell.

Padres 13, Brewers 3

CJ Abrams hit a grand slam and Brian O’Grady went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead San Diego’s rout of Milwaukee. The Brewers mustered just six hits against Padre pitching, which was led by Blake Snell, who allowed just a hit to go along with two strikeouts in three scoreless innings.
