Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges has been denied entrance into Canada for tonight’s game against the Toronto Raptors, according to reports from Charlotte media outlets.

Bridges turned himself in to Mecklenburg County police in October because he was wanted for domestic violence protection order violation, misdemeanor child abuse, and injury to personal property. He appeared before a judge and was given a $1,000 bond, according to WSOC-TV.

The station reported that Bridges had been accused of contacting the victim on social media. He was accused of violating a protective order during a custody exchange that day in early October.

The station reported that it was alleged he threw pool balls at his ex-girlfriend’s car, damaging her windshield. During the exchange, he threatened to withhold child support and “take everything from her,” according to the summons. The victim is Bridges’ longtime ex-girlfriend. They have several children together.

The Charlotte Observer reported that anybody with a criminal record may be excluded and denied entry into Canada because of heightened enforcement, no matter how long ago the incident occurred. Bridges or the Hornets might have to pay a fee to enter Canada. But that could take several weeks.

Bridges did not play in the 2023-24 NBA season.
