Miami Marlins outfielder Starling Marte scratched due to personal matter

Miami Marlins center fielder Starling Marte was scratched from Saturday’s lineup against the Atlanta Braves due to a personal matter.

Marte took batting practice with the team and was scratched less than an hour prior to first pitch.

Marte was hitless in four at-bats and struck out twice in Friday’s series-opening 5-0 loss.

The 32-year-old is batting .273 with six homers and 18 RBIs in 51 games. He entered Saturday tied for fifth in the majors with 16 stolen bases.

Also Saturday, Miami recalled right-hander Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Jacksonville and designated left-hander Shawn Morimando for assignment.

Guilmet was 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 12 appearances for Jacksonville. The 33-year-old is 0-2 with a 9.27 ERA in 27 career major league relief appearances with six teams.

Guilmet last pitched in the majors in 2018 when he made two appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals and six for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Morimando, 28, had a 6.35 ERA in two relief appearances for the Marlins.
