Matt Ryan sought help from pitchers during the offseason

NFL Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has turned to some former baseball pitchers in order to improve his deep ball accuracy.

After working with former MLB pitcher Tom House and USC alum Adam Dedeaux, Ryan had this to share regarding his off-season training.

“You’re always trying to find ways to get better, and I feel like that was an avenue for me to get better,” Ryan said per Vaughn McClure of ESPN. “It was different-style training — some shoulder work, some core work. And I feel really good. The ball feels really good. It’s coming off well.”

According to the report, Ryan spent six weeks training with the pitchers of the 3DQB training facility located in Los Angeles.

The areas of focus included “functional strength and conditioning, mechanics and motion analysis, mental and emotional management, and nutrition.”

Some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL have worked with these two in the past, including Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

Last season saw Ryan complete 66.3 percent of his passes for a total of 4,591 yards with just 21 touchdowns.

Perhaps Ryan’s off-season training will enable him to connect with Julio Jones and Co. at a better clip this upcoming season. Atlanta will surely be relying on that to get back into playoff contention.
