Matt Forte issues strong rebuttal to idea Jets are tanking

Matt Forte

The New York Jets have been disposing of players left and right as of late. So much so, they are taking a ton of criticism for their interesting strategy approaching the 2017 NFL season.

Fortunately for running back Matt Forte, he is still with the team. The 31-year-old running back is also sick of the Jets taking so much flak. He issued this strong rebuttal to the notion that the Jets are a sinking ship.

“It’s a good thing we don’t operate off of what the fans think and what everybody on the outside thinks,” Forte said, via Andy Vasquez of North Jersey. “What we think as a team, that’s what’s going to happen. And none of us on the team think that we’re going to tank. So all I have to say about that is: Bring it.”

Good for Forte. Finally some positivity amidst all of the doom and gloom talk. Though the reality is that the Jets are one of the least-talented teams in the league according to many experts. Even former receiver Brandon Marshall questioned whether the team would even have enough guys to line up on the field this fall.

Then, there is the dreaded quarterback situation. Veteran Josh McCown headlines a sad cast of quarterbacks including Bryce Petty and second-year player Christian Hackenberg. As of late, Hackenberg has been connecting with sideline personnel and camera men more than he is hitting his receivers during recent practices.

We wish Forte luck for the upcoming season. This is provided he is still a member of the team once September rolls around.
