Last week a report broke that the Oakland Raiders were bracing for the NFL to levy a suspension against recently acquired receiver Martavis Bryant.
Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal broke the story, noting that team officials “acknowledged the club is awaiting final word on the situation. It is believed to pertain to the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.”
Well, so far nothing has happened on this front. As for Bryant himself, he says he’s clean and hasn’t missed a test, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic, and the NFL hasn’t said anything to this point.
If Bryant were to be suspended for violating the NFL’s substance of abuse policy, then it would almost certainly be an indefinite ban, as he was reinstated less than a year ago following a year-long suspension for the same thing.
That said, until something happens on this front, it seems clear nobody should be rushing to judgement against this young man.
