One of the most purely talented defenders in college football has announced that he’s leaving school and has declared for the 2018 NFL Draft.

LSU pass rusher Arden Key made the announcement on Twitter Thursday morning, ending months of speculation that he would forgo his senior season.

A likely first-round pick in this upcoming April’s draft, Key has been somewhat of a divisive figure around the scouting community. His 6-foot-6, 265-pound frame and elite athletic skills makes him worth salivating over.

On the other hand, Key struggled with injury, weight gain, off-field issues and consistency during his time in Baton Rouge. On the field, he missed the final three games of this past season, LSU’s Citrus Bowl loss to Notre Dame included, with a knee injury. In eight total games this past season, Key recorded just four sacks.

Likely a tier below fellow EDGE guys Bradley Chubb and Harold Landry, we still expect Key to be a first-round pick. He might just have to wait a bit on Day 1 to hear his name called.
