The South Carolina Gamecocks experienced a disappointing season in 2018. It was so bad that ESPN tried to put them in the Sun Belt Conference title game.
ESPN clearly ran into an issue with their layout, putting South Carolina and the Akron Zips in the Sun Belt Championship game. The actual conference title matchup is between the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and Appalachian State Mountaineers.

South Carolina and Akron are playing on Saturday, though it’s for far lesser stakes than a conference championship. The Gamecocks have made some mistakes this year and will fall short of eight wins, but a conference demotion seems a little unfair.
