LeBron James will miss game against Minnesota

Are the Los Angeles Lakers conceding a game to the Minnesota Timberwolves? OK, maybe that’s a stretch, but LeBron James isn’t playing in tonight’s game.

The Lakers announced James is out because of tendinitis in his left ankle.

Not to be cynical, but could it be that the Lakers are on the second game of a back-to-back? Seems like a fair question since big man Anthony Davis is questionable for tonight’s game.

Los Angeles lost to the Chicago Bulls 124-108 on Wednesday and James played 37 minutes and had 25 points and nine assists. Davis had 19 points and 14 rebounds.

James is about to turn 39 and the Lakers have played five games in eight days. They have gone 1-4 in that stretch. Without James and possibly Davis, they’re going to be hard-pressed not to fall to 1-5.

Still, this game is a marquee matchup with James and Davis going against Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, who have the Timberwolves in first place in the Western Conference. It’s a shame not to have the top guys going at it in this matchup.
