Kyle Connor scored his second goal of the game not long into overtime as the host Winnipeg Jets beat Arizona on Sunday night, sending the Coyotes to their 12th straight loss.

Winnipeg won its sixth game in its last seven.

Mark Scheifele had a goal and three assists, while Gabriel Vilardi also scored once and assisted once for the Jets. Josh Morrissey had three assists, and Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 29 shots.

Nick Schmaltz scored twice for Arizona and Matias Maccelli scored as well in the losing effort. Connor Ingram made 28 saves.

The Jets opened the scoring 2:06 into the game when Scheifele reeled in a ricochet off the end boards and back-handed the puck home.

Schmaltz evened the match 1-1 with 6:15 remaining in the first on the man advantage, cleaning up a rebound that only needed a soft touch.

The Jets scored exactly a minute later to regain their lead. Also on the power play, Connor responded by wiring in a wrist shot.

With 3:26 left in the opening frame and the Jets again on the power play, Vilardi tucked in the puck after a series of moves in front of the net, making it 3-1.

Arizona scored the only goal of the middle frame when they finished off a dynamic shift with a tap-in tally by Maccelli to get the Coyotes back within one.

The Coyotes’ charge continued with Schmaltz’s goal 1:04 into the third period, tying the game at 3-3 after he was left unchecked in the slot.

In overtime, the Jets only needed 33 seconds, with Connor scoring on a one-timer after a 3-on-1.

Jets center Sean Monahan missed the game with an illness.
