Justin Haley had scored an impressive 17th place finish for small budget Rick Ware Racing on Sunday in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas but those results were negated by a post-race technical inspection.
In short, the car was too light across the scales.
This was Haley’s best finish of the season, but instead he will be scored 39th, a difference of 19 points due to the infraction. Making matters worse is that Haley had run in the top-10 for much of the race before falling back outside of the top-15 by the end of the race.
No other issues were found in post-race inspection and William Byron was officially declared the winner.
