Joseph Randle on Steven Jackson: ‘He’s at home watching’

Joseph Randle doesn’t appear to be Steven Jackson’s biggest fan.

Jackson, who still remains a free agent, would like one more opportunity to play in the NFL this season. In an attempt to gain the attention of the Dallas Cowboys, Jackson posted this tweet on Thursday.

Jackson’s message couldn’t be any more crystal clear: He would like a shot at playing in Dallas.

Randle isn’t phased by Jackson’s clever effort. He had this to share when asked about Jackson’s tweet:

“That don’t have nothing to do with me,” Randle said of Jackson on Friday, per The Dallas Morning News. “That’s him, he’s at home watching. We’re just trying to get better here.”

Randle appears confident and that likely stems from a statement owner Jerry Jones said about him that he “has the potential to be the kind of back that would step in there and be your No. 1 back.”

Additionally, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport stated from the Cowboys camp on Friday that the “starting job at this point is Joseph Randle’s to lose.” Also noted by Rapoport is that the Cowboys love Randle’s vision and explosiveness on the field.

The Cowboys did not sign their former stud rusher DeMarco Murray to $8 million a year because they believe they have a gem in the making with Randle. They also added a cheaper insurance policy in Darren McFadden who the team signed for two years for only $3 million. Unfortunately, McFadden’s handy knack for getting injured is already beginning to bite the Cowboys in the behind.

As for Jackson possibly coming to Dallas, Randle doesn’t want any of that. He has a chance to be the spotlight running back this season and sees no need for the veteran attempt to crash his party.

Perhaps a needy team will give Jackson the final chance he so longs for. However, with the preseason nearly upon us, Jackson’s window of opportunity is slowly closing.
