Jets trade former first-round pick Darron Lee to the Chiefs

It didn’t take interim New York Jets general manager Adam Gase too long to make his first big move in that role.

Mere hours after New York fired Mike Maccagnan, the team has sent former first-round pick Darron Lee to the Kansas City Chiefs for a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Lee, 24, has been on the trade block for some time now. The linebacker wasn’t seen as a fit under new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

A top-20 pick of the Jets back in 2016, Lee has recorded 238 tackles, 11 passes defended and thee interceptions in three seasons. He’ll vie for a starting job in Kansas City this season.
