Jerry Jones scoffs at idea Dak Prescott is on short leash

The Dallas Cowboys appear to be in fine hands at the quarterback position after Dak Prescott dazzled in star performances during the offseason.

Ready to start their surprise gem of a fourth-rounder against the New York Giants in Week 1, team owner Jerry Jones had an interesting take on Prescott’s boundaries.

Just to clarify, the Cowboys host the Giants on Sunday, Sept. 11. We are not exactly sure why Jones referred to Prescott playing on Saturday.

Prescott and Co. will put the Giants defense, that did make some offseason improvements, to the test. Last season, New York’s defense was simply wretched when it allowed 299 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks.

For those who didn’t catch Prescott in action during the preseason, the quarterback performed phenomenally. During three partial games, Prescott completed 78 percent of his passes for 454 yards and five touchdowns.

He avoided turning the ball over and also added 53 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Let’s just say if Prescott has anywhere to close to this type of success while he covers for his embattled quarterback, Tony Romo, Jones will probably throw the leash away altogether.
