Looking to fill their GM vacancy, the New York Mets interviewed an interesting candidate on Monday — Brodie Van Wagenen, who is the agent of star pitcher Jacob deGrom.

What’s interesting is that in July, deGrom released a statement (through Van Wagenen, no less) saying that he either wanted a long-term deal or a trade.
While Van Wagenen would obviously have to step aside as deGrom’s agent if the Mets hired him, this would certainly point towards a likely long-term deal for the ace.
Unless he reaches a deal earlier, deGrom has two arbitration years remaining before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
