Cleveland Cavaliers guard took Isaiah Thomas tweeted about an NBA team on Thursday. But he didn’t talk about his team, any of his old teams, or even a team that currently plays in the NBA.
Instead, he called for the return of the presently defunct Seattle SuperSonics.
Despite not being an active franchise for 10 years, it makes sense that the Sonics would hold a special place in Thomas’ heart.
Thomas was born in Tacoma and — until his senior year — attended high school in University Place, Washington. While he finished high school in Connecticut, Thomas returned to his home state for college, attending the University of Washington.
The Sonics played in Seattle from their 1967 inception through the 2007-08 season. After that year, they were controversially moved and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.
