Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young sustained a concussion in Saturday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and his timetable to return to action has not been determined, the team announced Sunday.

The two-time All-Star drew a charge and took an inadvertent elbow from the Cavaliers’ Isaac Okoro with 8:43 remaining in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game, won by the Cavaliers 116-95.

He was evaluated by the team’s athletic training and medical staff and will begin the NBA-mandated return-to-participation process.

Young finished with 15 points and five assists in 28 minutes on Saturday. This season, he is averaging 26.9 points and 10.8 assists over 36.3 minutes per contest in 39 games for the Hawks. He is making 36.4 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Young, 25, has career averages of 25.6 points, 9.5 assists and 34.1 minutes over 392 games (all starts) since being selected No. 5 overall in the 2018 NBA Draft.

The Hawks are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference heading into Sunday action, barely holding onto the final spot of the NBA play-in tournament.

A brief two-game road trip will take the Hawks to Sacramento on Monday and Golden State on Wednesday before they return home to open a six-game homestand.
