The New York Giants placed rookie running back and punt returner Eric Gray on injured reserve Tuesday following a calf injury in Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders.

The Giants also placed offensive tackle Matt Peart (shoulder) on IR, and both will have to miss at least four weeks.

Gray, 23, was a fifth-round pick by the Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. He played in all seven games for New York (2-5), rushing 13 times for 27 yards and catching one pass for 1 yard.

His primary duty was punt returner (seven for 28 yards). When he was hurt early in Sunday’s game, veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard filled in and struggled, muffing one punt lost to the Commanders. He was replaced by another receiver, Darius Slayton.

Peart, 26, a third-round pick by the Giants in the 2020 draft out of UConn, has appeared in 40 career games, including five this season, with six starts, none in 2023.

The Giants made other moves Tuesday, including signing running back Jashaun Corbin off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad. Corbin was with the Giants’ practice squad in 2022 and released in training camp in 2023.

The team also signed veteran outside linebacker Justin Hollins, 27, who played four games for the Green Bay Packers this season; and claimed running back Deon Jackson, 24, off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.
