The new era of New York Yankees baseball started when the team moved on from Alex Rodriguez. It’s now been taken to a whole new level by the performance of the team’s youngsters.
Ripe with talent at all levels of the Minors and even within the Major League club, there’s no more impressive player in the organization than Gary Sanchez.
The young catcher added more history to a short career that’s already filled with milestones.
Sanchez connected on an opposite field home run against Baltimore Orioles starter Dylan Bundy on Saturday.

It was Sanchez’s 11th homer in 23 career games, a mark that makes him the quickest player in the history of the game to hit 11 out of the park.
The top prospect entered Saturday’s action hitting .403 with 10 homers, 20 RBI and an absurd 1.342 OPS.
While we can’t expect Sanchez to keep up at this pace, it’s readily apparent that he’s becoming the face of this era of Yankees baseball.
That much is already known.
