Gary Kubiak not impressed with Broncos’ quarterbacks

So far it would appear that the Denver Broncos three-headed quarterback competition is nothing to write home about.

“I don’t think anybody has taken off and done anything,” Kubiak said via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I think they’ve all done what they did in the off season. They all continue to do it. We’ll just going here. We’ll start playing some people and playing some games. We’re going to find out.”

Clearly, Kubiak is not overly impressed with Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian or rookie Paxton Lynch.

Lynch sort of deserves a hall pass considering he is the rookie of the bunch. Though, Kubiak’s comments about Lynch’s progress are not very uplifting.

He described the rookie’s performance as “kind of up and down” and said he “didn’t practice well.”

Having the most professional experience, Sanchez should be the clear leader. However, Kubiak’s comments indicates that the team is not sold on the veteran.

Sanchez did not have much to say when asked about when the competition would produce a starter.

“We have no idea. It doesn’t matter.”

We will learn more about the status of the competition once the three quarterbacks start participating in the preseason games. The Broncos can only hope that a front runner emerges heading into Week 1, and that said front runner isn’t created by default.
