The LA Galaxy acquired goaltender Novak Micovic on loan from the Serbian SuperLiga side FK Cukaricki.

The arrangement is for the remainder of the 2023 MLS season and includes a permanent transfer option.

Micovic, 21, posted 24 shutouts in 54 professional appearances with FK Cucaricki (2018-23) and FK IMT Belgrad (2020-21).

“We are pleased to bring Novak to the LA Galaxy,” LA head coach and sporting director Greg Vanney said in a press release Friday. “He has shown his quality and presence with both the first team and with the Serbian youth national teams. We look forward to integrating him into the group.”

Jonathan Bond, the Galaxy’s usual starting goalkeeper, is out with a shoulder injury and backup Jonathan Klinsmann is reportedly dealing with a finger injury.
