Evil Geniuses edge TSM in LCS Summer Split playoff quarterfinals

Evil Geniuses rallied past TSM 3-2 on Thursday in the upper bracket quarterfinals of the League Championship Series Summer Split playoffs.

TSM opened with a 25-minute win on red, but Evil Geniuses rebounded with 30-minute victories on red to take a 2-1 lead. TSM evened the score by prevailing in 27 minutes on blue, but Evil Geniuses pulled out the victory on red in 21 minutes.

Evil Geniuses advanced to the semifinals to face Cloud9 on Aug. 5.

Mohamed “Revenge” Kaddoura of the United States led the way for Evil Genuises with a 31-11-27 kill-death-assist ratio, while teammate Joseph Joon “jojopyun” Pyun of Canada posted a 23-15-37 K-D-A ratio.

For TSM, David “Insanity” Challe of the United States (17-15-21 K-D-A ratio) and Jason “WildTurtle” Tran of Canada (17-17-25 K-D-A ratio) kept their squad in the match.

The first- and second-place teams headed to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The third- through sixth-place teams opened the playoffs in the upper-bracket quarterfinals. The seventh- and eighth-place teams entered the postseason in the lower bracket, while the ninth- and 10th-place teams were eliminated.
