Eric Berry expected to play in AFC Championship Game

Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry has missed all but two games this season, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports he’s expected to play Sunday.

Why this is a big deal: This is potentially huge for Kansas City, which is hosting the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

  • Berry is a dynamic safety who can be a huge spark covering Rob Gronkowski downfield.
  • New England’s run game, featuring Sony Michel, sparked the big win over Los Angeles last weekend in the divisional round. Berry is incredible around the line of scrimmage and should help.

Why we’re skeptical: Berry is going to gut it out and play through pain, but there’s a chance he won’t last.

  • The former Comeback Player of the Year suffers from “extremely painful” bone spurs in his heel.
  • It’s going to be tough for Berry to simply slide into the flow of things, and he’s not exactly been able to get into playing shape all year due to his injury.
