As we reported would likely happen, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has officially opted out of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent next month.

Don’t worry Heat fans, this is an indication that Wade will return to Miami on a lesser deal than the one he was under prior to opting out. Wade can save the team a ton of money be re-signing to a salary cap friendly deal. Wade joins LeBron James and Udonis Haslem as Heat players who have opted out.
Forward Chris Bosh figures to follow in line.
What does all this mean? Well, Heat president Pat Riley will now likely have a nice amount of money to work with when/if these stars end up coming back to South Beach.
Carmelo Anthony and Kyle Lowry, among others, have been linked to the Heat over the past week or so.
