One of the Boston Red Sox’s most beloved players digitally crashed a dinner with team officials to urge them to make a big move to improve the roster with spring training for the 2024 season underway.

The last two seasons have been quite frustrating for Red Sox fans. After winning two World Series titles since 2013 and being a consistently competitive team, they have finished at rock bottom in the American League East the last two years with a 78-84 record.

While the team’s front office made it seem like they had enough of the losing and would do everything necessary to improve the roster in a major way for 2024, the organization made no impact signings this winter. The quiet offseason even led the Red Sox CEO to admit they weren’t really trying that hard to add pricey stars in free agency despite being linked to several big names.

That realization is all the more infuriating for the diehard Red Sox fan base because a trio of impact players — Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, and Cody Bellinger — are still available. Well, it seems you are not alone in your frustration Red Sox Nation because a team legend is also tired of the lack of moves and let the organization know about it recently.

In a recent column from Boston Globe reporter Peter Abraham, the Boston Red Sox beat writer revealed an interesting and funny story about four-time All-Star Dustin Pedroia letting the front office know they need to do something soon to give the fanbase hope for 2024.

“The Sox will never be irrelevant, but uninteresting is on the table again. It led Pedroia to FaceTime a dinner that [Manager Alex] Cora and some executives were attending Sunday night and remind the group that several high-profile free agents remained available, starting pitchers Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell among them,” Abraham wrote.

It’s one thing for fans to be disappointed by the organization, it is another for a player who helped the franchise win those two recent titles to be annoyed about the franchise’s offseason. It says a lot about the narrative surrounding the team heading into the season that Pedroia felt he needed to step in and say something.
