Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf was placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol prior to Sunday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.

The Ducks also activated fellow forward Max Comtois from the protocol and recalled defenseman Greg Pateryn to the active roster from the taxi squad.

Getzlaf, 36, has a team-leading 20 assists to go along with two goals in 29 games this season.

The Ducks’ all-time leader in games played (1,130), assists (723) and points (1,004), Getzlaf has spent his entire 17-year career with the franchise.

The 19th overall pick of the 2003 NHL Draft, Getzlaf won a Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007 and gold medals with Canada at the Winter Olympics in 2010 and 2014. He has served as the captain of Anaheim since 2010-11.

Comtois, 22, recorded one assist in 14 games this season after leading the team in goals (16) and points (33) in 55 games in 2020-21.

He has 52 points (23 goals, 29 assists) in 108 career games since being selected by Anaheim in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Pateryn, 31, has not recorded a point in two games this season. He has 42 points (four goals, 38 assists) in 282 career games with the Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Avalanche, San Jose Sharks and Ducks.
