The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Austin Wynns to a major league contract Sunday and placed fellow catcher Will Smith on the seven-day injured list with a concussion.

The Dodgers also transferred right-hander Alex Reyes (shoulder) to the 60-day IL to make room on the roster for Wynns.

Wynns, 32, appeared in one game for the San Francisco Giants this season before being designated for assignment on April 10.

Wynns is a career .230 hitter with 12 homers and 51 RBIs in 181 games with the Baltimore Orioles (2018-19, 2021) and Giants.

Smith, 28, is batting .333/.417/.641 with three home runs and 12 RBIs (second on the team) through 11 games. He has been out of the lineup since Wednesday and his IL designation is retroactive to Thursday.

Austin Barnes was the only catcher available for the Dodgers on Saturday and manager Dave Roberts said he would start again Sunday against the Chicago Cubs.
