Dalvin Cook vows to be ready to play in Week 1

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has been making steady progress in his recovery from a torn ACL last year that cost him most of his rookie season. On Sunday, he made it clear that he’ll be ready to go for Week 1 in 2018.

“I’m going to have myself ready to go by Week 1,” Cook said, per Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “That’s the goal.”

Cook is still being held out of team drills during OTAs but is working on individual drills. The goal here is just to take it little by little so that he’s fully healthy, with no setbacks, for the regular season.

“I’m right where I need to be,’’ Cook said of his rehab. “I ain’t trying to get myself too much of a workload because the season is not right now. I’m just following my protocol and whatever they tell me to do, I’m just going to take it day by day.’’

Before the knee injury last year, Cook was off to a tremendous start as a professional, having racked up 444 total yards and two touchdowns in less than four full games.
