The coaching staff for the 2018 Chicago Cubs will have a Boston Red Sox feel. The Cubs have hired Chili Davis as their hitting coach and Brian Butterfield as their third-base coach. Both men held the same jobs for the Red Sox in 2017.

Davis had been Boston’s hitting coach since 2015.
Butterfield, meanwhile, had been with the Red Sox since 2013, leaving the Toronto Blue Jays with John Farrell when the latter was hired as Boston’s manager.
Davis replaces John Mallee, while Butterfield will take the job of Gary Jones. Both men were on the coaching staff for Chicago’s 2016 World Series champions.
