Colts don’t yet know starting quarterback for Sunday

With Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks Andrew Luck (done for the season) and Matt Hasselbeck declared out for this week’s game against the Tennessee Titans, head coach Chuck Pagano has yet to make a decision about who will be starting on Sunday.

The choices left on the Colts’ roster are newly signed quarterbacks Ryan Lindley and Josh Freeman, along with rookie free-agent Stephen Morris. With the Colts needing a win on Sunday coupled with a Houston Texans loss and many other games to go in their favor, their chances of heading into the postseason are not very encouraging.

Regarding Lindley, he played in three games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2014 and one playoff game when he tallied a total of 644 passing yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.

And as for Freeman, the rust is even thicker. The quarterback hasn’t touched the field since 2013 when he played three games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one for the Minnesota Vikings. The combined result was 761 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

Who would have known at this point in the Colts’ season that the team would be looking for a predecessor to Charlie Whitehurst who must perform adequately enough to possibly save Pagano’s job?

The stars are going to have to do some massive aligning over the course of Saturday night for whoever is quarterbacking for the Colts start the ball rolling towards attempting to find the postseason.
