As an attorney, Chip Kelly’s father, Paul wore a suit every day. Prior to his death, Paul Kelly requested that he be buried in something more comfortable.
That wish was granted. The coach’s father was laid to rest in San Francisco 49ers sweats.
Chip Kelly said his late father, Paul, wore a suit every day as a trial lawyer. He wanted to be buried in a 49ers sweat suit, and he was.

Kelly coached San Francisco’s Week 13 game against the Chicago Bears shortly after his father’s passing (more on that here).
This is certainly a nice story. Mr. Kelly clearly wanted to honor his son and let him know that he’ll always be cheering for him. It’s nice that his family honored the request, as well.
Kelly may not end up being the 49ers coach for a long time, but his family will always remember his tenure.
