Buffalo Bills star could make return from ACL injury Sunday in London

Buffalo Bills' Von Miller

Buffalo Bills star edge rusher and future Hall of Famer Von Miller has not suited up since suffering a torn ACL against the Detroit Lions last Thanksgiving.

For the 34-year-old defender, it’s been a long road to recovery. It now appears that he’s set to return and take the field when Buffalo goes up against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Miller will make the trip with his teammates across the pond after his first two practices concluded without any issues. This gives Miller a good chance to take to the field with the rest of his team.

It had seemingly been trending in this direction for a bit despite previous suggestions that Miller’s absence could extend further into the season. For his part, the eight-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl MVP seems ready to go.

“If they want me to play, I’ll play. My goal is to be available. If they feel it’s best for me to play. I’ll play. I wanna play. If they don’t and wanna wait until next week vs the Giants then I’ll do that as well,” Von Miller to reporters on Wednesday.

One of the best pass rushers of his generation, Miller signed a six-year, $120 million contract with Buffalo ahead of the 2022 season. He proceeded to record 12 QB hits, 10 tackles for loss and eight sacks in 11 games, continuing to prove himself to be among the game’s best.

Fresh off a three-game span that has seen them outscore their opponents by a combined margin of 123-33, the Bills are riding high heading into London.

Defensively, Buffalo has already racked up 16 sacks in four games with Von Miller sidelined. Leonard Floyd (3.5), Ed Oliver (3.0) and Gregory Rousseau (3.0) have done much of the heavy lifting.

The idea of adding one of the best edge rushers ever to go with that trio has to be good news for head coach Sean McDermott and Co. Whether that happens come Sunday remains to be seen. But it seems to be trending in that direction.
