Bucks Deny Report That Jason Kidd is Taking Over as General Manager

By Vincent Frank

A report from Dave Begel of OnMilwaukee.com on Sunday evening indicated that the Milwaukee Bucks were on the verge of replacing general manager John Hammond with head coach Jason Kidd. Considering Kidd’s obvious thirst for power, that report didn’t come as too much of a surprise. Though, Hammond’s success over the past couple seasons did make us wonder what was happening in Milwaukee.

Almost immediately after the report came out, the Bucks released a statement denying it:

It’s interesting that the Bucks’ statement wouldn’t include support for Hammond by name. It’s also interesting to see the organization release a statement of this magnitude, especially if Kidd eventually takes over the general manager role later this week. The back-peddling would be pretty insane.

The team could very well be upset that a report came out before it notified Hammond of the changes. Then again, the report itself could be premature.

We will know soon enough.
