Broncos’ Sylvester Williams says starting job is Mark Sanchez’s to lose

There has been quite the hype coming from the Denver Broncos camp that Mark Sanchez has some serious competition for the starting quarterback gig.

Despite the rumblings that Trevor Siemian has a legitimate shot at becoming the team’s starter, defensive tackle Sylvester Williams is not buying into it. He threw his support to team Sanchez during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio.

Most would probably agree with Williams’ sentiment considering Sanchez has six years of experience, including four as a full-time starter. For comparison’s sake, Siemian has attempted exactly zero regular season passes in the NFL.

The Broncos are currently holding firm on the stance that these two will compete for the starting job during training camp. Meanwhile, rookie first-round pick Paxton Lynch is said to be nowhere near ready to compete for playing time.

While it’s likely we will see Sanchez under center come Week 1, Williams’ comments shouldn’t lead us to believe anything is settled. After all, a defensive tackle is not going to be in the know here. Those conversations are taking place solely within the confines of the coaching staff.
