Brandon Marshall chooses cryptic Instagram profile picture

Free agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall was recently released by the New York Jets after two seasons. It did not take too long afterwards for Marshall to post a cryptic profile picture to his Instagram as to which NFL team he might be want to play for this year.

Marshall’s profile picture shows an arm cropped, hoisting the the Lombardi Trophy. That arm belongs to former wide receiver Devin Thomas, who held up the trophy after the New York Giants’ Super Bowl XLVI win.

Thomas coincidentally wore Marshall’s No. 15 that 2011 season he played for the Giants.

But, are the Giants the front runner team Marshall is seeking? This past Saturday a report suggested that there is a “mutual interest” between Marshall and the New England Patriots.

The Patriots were defeated by the Giants in that aforementioned Super Bowl. Seemingly enough, Marshall would appear to be targeting a team that could finally take him to a title game.

Marshall turns 33 later in March and is likely to drum up no more than a two-year deal during free agency. The six-time Pro Bowler had a spectacular 2015 season with the Jets after tallying 1,502 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns.

But in 2016, Marshall’s numbers plummeted to 788 yards and just three touchdowns. Quarterback inconsistency could be partially to blame for Marshall’s decline.

Marshall is sure to attract attention once free agency kicks off on March 7. Perhaps the Giants might just reach out considering they recently released wideout Victor Cruz in February.
