Bismack Biyombo and the Oklahoma City Thunder were on the road Wednesday night, taking on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center. To no surprise, the Blazers were no match for coach Mark Daigneault’s team, falling to the Thunder 128-120, but the bigger story was what happened to Biyombo during the game.

During the second quarter of the game, Biyombo suddenly fell backward and collapsed along the Thunder’s sideline during the start of a timeout. Biyombo fell to the ground and remained there for several moments before being helped back to the locker room.

Team officials brought out a wheelchair for the 31-year-old 6-foot-8, 255-pound center, yet he didn’t need it to get back to the locker room.

Once they had a chance to assess Biyombo’s situation, the Thunder determined that the 13-year pro was just fine. They also announced that Biyombo was not dealing with a serious medical condition. In fact, he was already in a joking mood by halftime.

“He’s fine. He just fainted, basically,” coach Mark Daigneault said. “He was in the locker room at halftime laughing and joking.”

Biyombo was appearing in just his fifth game with the Thunder since signing with the team on Feb. 10. His status for Friday’s matchup against the Miami Heat is unknown.
