BetBoom reach DreamLeague 22 upper-bracket final

BetBoom Team edged Aurora 2-1 on Thursday to seal a berth in the upper-bracket final at DreamLeague Season 22.

As Group Stage 2 concluded on Thursday, BetBoom (5-2) finished second behind Team Falcons (7-0), who registered a 2-0 victory over Shopify Rebellion (2-5).

Team Spirit and Xtreme Gaming also posted wins to advance to the lower-bracket semifinal. Spirit (4-3) logged a 2-1 victory over OG (3-4), and Xtreme (4-3) recorded a 2-0 sweep of Gaimin Gladiators (3-4).

Spirit and Xtreme will face off on Saturday, with the winner to oppose the loser of the Saturday match between Falcons and BetBoom.

DreamLeague Season 22 began with 16 top Dota 2 teams from around the world competing for shares of the $1 million prize pool. Eight teams advanced out of Group Stage 1. The grand final on Sunday at Meltdown London will be a best-of-five match.

Group Stage 2 featured one round robin of the top eight teams, and matches were best-of-three.

Critical ESL Pro Tour points toward qualification for additional 2024 events are also on the line.

The championship side will earn $300,000, and the runner-up will receive $175,000.

On Thursday, BetBoom sandwiched a 34-minute win on red and a 57-minute triumph on green around a 46-minute setback on green against Aurora (0-7). Russia’s Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko paced BetBoom with an average kill-death-assist ratio of 8.7/0.7/4.3.

Falcons handled Shopify Rebellion in 34 minutes on green and 28 minutes on red. Slovakia’s Oliver “skiter” Lepko topped Falcons with a 9/1/8 K-D-A ratio.

Spirit earned a 40-minute win on green before OG responded with a 49-minute victory on green. Spirit took the finale in 44 minutes on green. Russia’s Denis “Larl” Sigitov was the key player for Spirit with a 9.7/1.7/12.3 K-D-A ratio.

Xtreme downed Gaimin Gladiators twice on red, in 38 and 72 minutes. Guo “Xm” Hongcheng led the all-Chinese Xtreme squad with a 10/4/11 K-D-A ratio.
