Baker Mayfield and Emily Wilkerson are happily married, and the story of how Mayfield finally landed his first date with her is hilarious.
The details were shared in a brilliant article ESPN’s Mina Kimes published on Wednesday. After being introduced by a mutual friend in 2017, Wilkinson says “she was wary of dating a ‘punk football player’ and ignored Mayfield’s advances for months.”
So, how did Mayfield finally break through and win her heart? By stalking her on Instagram, of course.
“He repeatedly followed and unfollowed her on Instagram, trying to attract her attention. Finally, in late December, they exchanged messages. He begged her to meet him before the Rose Bowl, his final college football game. She reluctantly agreed to grab lunch.
Mayfield was clearly infatuated with her, and he relentlessly pursued her in any way he could.
Of course, the rest is history.
