In Week 17, Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib and Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree exchanged words on the field.
Things got particularly nasty when Talib grabbed Crabtree’s gold chain and broke it off his neck. It was a dirty move and a clear violation of Crabtree’s personal space. Not to mention that Talib damaged a personal belonging of Crabtree’s.
For whatever the reason, the NFL has decided not to fine Talib for his actions according to Zac Jackson of Pro Football Talk.
Crabtree was none too happy about the incident and had this to say following the game.
“Snatching chains on the field, like what you accomplish? You hard? You tough? That make you tough?” Crabtree said, per USA Today ( h/t Pro Football Talk). “You snatching chains in front of the police and take off running. Childish man.”
Talib also put his two cents worth in after the incident, which made his behavior look all the more childish, according to Ryan Greene of denver.cbslocal.com.
“I told him if he wears that chain in front of me I’m gonna snatched it off him.”
Perhaps Talib was in a particularly salty mood knowing the Raiders were headed to the playoffs despite the outcome of last Sunday’s game. Either way, who is he to say what a player can or cannot wear on the field?
