Alabama football gets good news as 5-star wide receiver recommits after uncommitting when Nick Saban retired

Alabama football: Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams, a five-star wide receiver prospect, gave new Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer a chance to breath a sigh of relief.

Williams had decommitted to Alabama in the Nick Saban domino effect after he announced his retirement, but announced today on his social networks that he was recommitting.

The receiver was the highest-ranked recruit who had not committed to a school. He chose Alabama over Auburn and Texas A&M.

Williams was the No. 2 prospect in the state of Alabama, according to 24/7 sports. He had originally committed to Alabama, then decided he would look around after Saban’s announcement.

Getting him to stay is a big get for DeBoer, who had already lost several players to the transfer portal since he took over.

Williams was a Mr. Football in Alabama and he had more than 3,254 yards receiving and 47 touchdowns, along with more than 5,000-yards of total offense in high school.
