New York Jets quarterback and four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has been in the news a whole lot recently for off-field stuff.

It was reported earlier this week that the future Hall of Fame quarterback is being considered by independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. to be his running mate. That was a shocking report.

As is the case when something like this breaks, media started to vet Rodgers to an extent. It’s in this that CNN reported on Wednesday that the star quarterback has shared Sandy Hook conspiracy theories in private conversations.

“CNN knows of two people with whom Rodgers has enthusiastically shared these stories, including with Pamela Brown, one of the journalists writing this piece,” CNN report on Aaron Rodgers.

A total of 20 children and six adults were killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting back in 2012. It’s one of the worst mass shootings in American History.

Rodgers is now going on record denying the CNN report.

“As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy. I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life. My thoughts and prayers continue to remain with the families affected along with the entire Sandy Hook community.”

As all of this was playing out, the longshot presidential candidate appeared on Fox News to throw his support behind Rodgers and push back against media criticism of the quarterback.

“Aaron Rodgers is battle-tested, he’s been hammered by the press and stood up for things he believed in.

He’s a critical thinker, and I think we need that. We need people who understand that you cannot always trust authority,” Kennedy Jr. said.

Kennedy Jr. is expected to announce his running mate later in March. If it is indeed Rodgers, questions will be raised about his ability to play for the Jets next season.
