Report: Cowboys sign former Browns first-round pick

Dallas Cowboys 2020 NFL Mock Draft

The Dallas Cowboys used free agency to build talent and depth on defense. They then focused on offense with their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. It has Dallas was super high expectations heading into next season.

While not on the level of some of their other moves, the Cowboys signed former Cleveland Browns first-round pick Cameron Erving on Wednesday. ESPN’s Todd Archer notes that it’s a one-year deal for the offensive tackle.

Erving, 27, has started 42 games in five seasons since Cleveland made him the 19th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Seen as a bust, he was shipped off to the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the 2017 campaign.

The Florida State product played well with the Chiefs, starting a career high 13 games back in 2018. It is somewhat a surprise Erving could not land a starting job in free agency. He’ll act as the swing tackle in Dallas, backing up Tyron Smith and La’el Collins.
