Report: Browns trade former first-round pick Cameron Erving to the Chiefs

Chiefs have acquired Cameron Erving from the Browns

It took the Cleveland Browns just two seasons to realize that former first-round pick Cameron Erving wasn’t going to be part of their long-term future. The team traded Erving to the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in next year’s draft.

Erving, 25, was the No. 19 overall pick back in 2015. The Florida State product started 13 games between center and right tackle last season, ranking as one of the worst starting offensive linemen in the NFL.

For the Chiefs, it’s all about adding young talent and reclamation projects. Remember, Kansas City acquired former Buffalo Bills linebacker Reggie Ragland in a trade earlier this week.

Look for Erving to be the Chiefs’ primary backup at tackle, guard and center this season.
