Justin Verlander injury

Houston Astros starter and former Cy Young winner Justin Verlander made just his second start of Spring Training Sunday against the New York Mets.

Verlander was expected to pitch four innings. Unfortunately, he exited after just two innings with an apparent injury. It’s not yet known what type of injury Verlander suffered, but he dealt with a groin issue earlier in the spring.

Houston indicated that Verlander will undergo further testing. The team will likely provide an update after the game.

Verlander, 37, pitched to a 21-6 record with a 2.58 ERA and 0.80 WHIP en route to earning the AL Cy Young award last season.

We’ll obviously have more updates as soon as they become available. For now, there’s no reason to speculate on the injury.
