NFL teams overwhelmingly against retaining pass interference replay rule

NFL

The NFL’s decision to institute a replay of pass interference calls this past season did not go too swimmingly.

It had very little impact on overturning pass interference calls and non-calls during both the regular season and playoffs.

Primarily, officials decided to go with the original call despite evidence to the contrary.

In a postseason poll of NFL teams, a vast majority of them indicated they were against retaining instant replay reviews for the 2020 season.

That’s rather interesting stuff in that this very same competition committee enacted the replay reviews last season.

It’s an open question whether teams don’t like the process or simply want it to be left up to human error.

Either way, the NFL’s hope that instant replays would help has not come to fruition.
