Once a touchdown celebration goes viral, it quickly catches on around football. It looks like the Maryland Terrapins are now getting in on the trend of punching a teammate after a touchdown.

After wide receiver Dontay Demus Jr. scored an 80-yard touchdown against Rutgers, tight end Tyler Mabry sprinted up to him and punched him in the face mask.

Perhaps Mabry wanted to aim for his teammate’s chest, but it’s clear either way that punching your teammate is the new trend to celebrate their touchdowns.

Hopefully this celebration is done safely and, like with so many celebrations gone wrong, ends in an unfortunate injury.
