Jake Arrieta and the Philadelphia Phillies were in Chicago for a date with the Cubs Monday. When the former Cubs pitcher stepped to the plate for the first time since he left town, he was greeted with a standing ovation.
That’s quite a sweet sight, and we imagine Arrieta was moved by the respect his former fans showed him.
Arrieta, of course, was with the Cubs from 2013-17. He signed a huge three-year contract with the Phillies ahead of last season. Monday marked his first start at Wrigley Field since his days with the North Side squad.
