The Buffalo Bills said goodbye to longtime defensive tackle Kyle Williams recently, and veteran linebacker Lorenzo Alexander will soon be joining him in retirement.

The two-time Pro Bowler said that he intends on calling it a career following the 2019 season.

“If you ask me today, yeah, this is my last year,” Alexander said, per Buffalo News. “At some point you’ve got to eventually walk away from the game and start the second half of your life. Obviously, I’ve got a lot of life to live and there are other things I want to do. I have four kids that I want to be a part of what they’re doing, whether that’s Little League sports, dance, soccer, whatever that may look like.”

Alexander will be 36 years of age when the 2019 season begins. He’s had a remarkable career since going undrafted out of Cal Berkeley back in 2015 and is heading into his 15th season as a pro.

The pinnacle of Alexander’s career was his 2016 season, when he racked up 76 tackles, 12.5 sacks and one interception. Last year, he intercepted two passes and was one of the most effective defenders on Buffalo’s roster.

Needless to say, the Bills have their work cut out to find Alexander’s replacement in the draft this year.
