Elvis Dumervil questions ‘desperate’ trade: Joe Flacco is no Peyton Manning

Joe Flacco

Many people view John Elway and the Denver Broncos as pretty needy after the team traded for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco on Wednesday. One of those folks out there who sees this as a poor move is former Ravens linebacker, Elvis Dumervil.

He was not shy one bit to dish the Broncos’ decision.

“It’s a big gamble. Definitely desperate, no doubt, said Dumervil, per TMZ Sports.  It can be a great deal, or it can be another bad decision by John Elway.”

Dumervil did not stop there. His words were pretty brutal when it came to discussing Flacco.

“[Elway] did a genius move with Peyton Manning. But unfortunately, Joe Flacco is no Peyton Manning.”

Ouch. But most would agree it is somewhat true. Manning had a successful four-year run (for the most part) until he decided to retire after his 2015 season. He won a Super Bowl title and passed for a league-high 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns in 2013.

Flacco has a Super Bowl title as well, but it is clear he is on the downhill slope after losing his job to a rookie in 2018.

Plus, it remains to be seen if Flacco can even stay healthy to attempt to turn things around in Denver. Stay tuned.
